Franz Philipp Friedrich von Kubel, born 19 August 1819 in Tubingen and who died 4 January 1884 in Berlin, was a German jurist who played a significant role in creating Germany's civil code, the Burgerliches Gesetzbuch. He became a judge at the Stuttgart Superior Court in 1848, served on the 1863 to 1866 Dresden Commission drafting a law of obligations, joined the preliminary commission for the BGB in 1874, and was named to the First Commission the same year, where he served as sole editor for the entire law of contractual obligations until his death, which came before he could complete drafts for every part of that subject.
