Frans Lourens Herman Rumpff (5 June 1912 to 4 April 1992) was a South African judge who served as the fourteenth Chief Justice of South Africa from 1974 to 1982. Born in Standerton in the Transvaal, he earned his degrees at the University of Pretoria before establishing himself as an advocate and legal educator, was made King's Counsel in 1951, and served as Judge President of the Transvaal Provincial Division from 1959 to 1961. He was among the judges who acquitted the defendants in the 1956 Treason Trial, and he succeeded Newton Ogilvie Thompson as Chief Justice before being succeeded in turn by Pierre Rabie.
