Frank Joseph Hughes (1883-1967) was a Canadian lawyer who served briefly on the Supreme Court of Canada. He earned a Bachelor of Arts from Queen's University in 1907, studied law at Osgoode Hall Law School, was admitted to the Ontario Bar in 1911, and built a Toronto practice focused on insurance defence work while serving as an assistant Crown attorney. Prime Minister R.B. Bennett appointed him to the Supreme Court on March 17, 1933, at age 49, but a heart attack that same year and difficulty relocating his family to Ottawa led him to resign in August 1934; he left the bench on February 12, 1935, after less than two years, and returned to private legal practice in Toronto.
