Francesco Carnelutti (1879 to 1965) was an Italian legal scholar and advocate who shaped modern civil procedural law. He held professorships in industrial, commercial and civil procedure law at institutions including Bocconi University and Sapienza University of Rome, founded the journal Rivista di diritto processuale civile with Giuseppe Chiovenda in 1924, and took part in drafting Italy 1940 Code of Civil Procedure.
