Folkvid the Lawspeaker

Folkvid was lawspeaker of the Swedish province of Varmland during the second half of the twelfth century. He was the father of Hakon Galen, an earl whose son Knut Hakonsson later claimed the Norwegian throne, and his own forced marriage to Cecilia Sigurdsdotter, an illegitimate daughter of the Norwegian king Sigurd Munn, was annulled in 1184. He is known only from the Bagler sagas, and most Swedish historians have questioned whether he actually existed, since no contemporary Swedish source mentions him.
