Eugene Gaudemet (1872-1933) was a French jurist born in Vosne-Romanee who taught private law at the Dijon law faculty from 1901 and at Strasbourg from 1919. He wrote L'Interpretation du Code civil en France depuis 1804, based on lectures given in Basel in 1923, and La Theorie generale des obligations, drawn from his civil law course; his son Jean Gaudemet became a noted legal historian.
