Ernst Freund (1864-1932) was an American legal scholar, born in Germany, who taught political science and law at the University of Chicago and is credited as principally responsible for developing the field of administrative law in the United States in the early twentieth century. Supreme Court Justice Felix Frankfurter called him one of the most distinguished legal scholars in the history of the legal professoriate.
