Engalaguppe Seetharamiah Venkataramiah (1924 to 1997) was the nineteenth Chief Justice of India, serving from June to December 1989. He began legal practice in 1946, briefly served as Advocate General for Mysore State in 1970, and joined the Karnataka High Court as a judge later that year before his elevation to the Supreme Court of India in 1979, becoming the first judge from Karnataka to reach the Chief Justiceship. His daughter, B. V. Nagarathna, later became a judge of the Supreme Court of India.
