Thomas Eichelbaum (1931-2018) was a New Zealand jurist who served as the eleventh Chief Justice of New Zealand from 1989 to 1999. Born in Königsberg, Germany, his family emigrated to Wellington in 1938 to escape persecution, and he became a naturalised New Zealand citizen in 1946 and earned his law degree from Victoria University in 1954.
