Why did Luigi Ferrari Bravo serve on the International Court of Justice for only about two years?
He was elected in 1995 to complete the term of Judge Roberto Ago after Ago's death.
He did not win a full nine year term. The United Nations General Assembly and Security Council elected him on 21 June 1995 to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Judge Roberto Ago, so he served only the remainder of Ago's term, from 1995 to 1997, after which Pieter Kooijmans succeeded him.
