Christopher Salmon Patterson was a Canadian lawyer and judge born January 16, 1823 in London, England, who emigrated to Canada West in 1845, was called to the bar in 1851, practiced law in Toronto from 1856, and sat on the Ontario Court of Error and Appeal from 1874. Appointed by Prime Minister John A. Macdonald, he served as a puisne justice of the Supreme Court of Canada from 1888 until his death on July 24, 1893, an appointment notable for breaking with the tradition of Maritime regional representation on the court.
