Charles Skerrett (1863-1929) was a New Zealand jurist who served as the fifth Chief Justice of New Zealand from 1926 until his death in 1929. Born in India to an Irish family, he moved to New Zealand at age 12, studied at Wellington College, and became one of the first King's Counsel appointed in New Zealand in 1907, having earlier served as President of the New Zealand Law Society from 1918 to 1926. He also held leadership roles outside the law, serving as president of the New Zealand Football Association when it won the Chatham Cup in 1922. He was knighted in 1927 and died at sea in 1929 while travelling to London.
