Cecilia Medina Quiroga is a Chilean jurist who became the first woman to serve as President of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, holding that office from 2008 to 2009 after her election to the court in 2004 and service as its vice president in 2007. She earlier served on the United Nations Human Rights Committee from 1995 to 2002, chairing it in 1999 and 2000 and authoring its General Comment 28 on gender equality under the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and she co-directed the University of Chile's Human Rights Centre.
