Bijan Kumar Mukherjea (1891 to 1956) was an Indian jurist who served as the fourth Chief Justice of India, holding the office from December 1954 until his retirement in January 1956 due to ill health. He joined the Calcutta Bar in 1914 and was appointed a judge of the Calcutta High Court in 1936, later joining the Federal Court, which became the Supreme Court of India, in 1948. When first asked to become Chief Justice in 1954 he declined out of deference to his senior colleague Mehr Chand Mahajan, accepting the post only after Mahajan retired.
