Bhuvaneshwar Prasad Sinha (1899 to 1986) served as the sixth Chief Justice of India from October 1959 to January 1964. Born into a Rajput family in what is now Bihar's Bhojpur district, he studied at Patna College and Patna Law College before practicing as a vakil and advocate at the Patna High Court from 1922. He became a judge of that court in 1943, Chief Justice of the Nagpur High Court in 1951, and a judge of the Supreme Court of India in 1954, and after retiring he served as president of the Bharat Scouts and Guides.
