Bertram Schmitt is a German jurist, born September 9, 1958, in Dieburg, West Germany. He served as a judge at Germany's Federal Court of Justice, the Bundesgerichtshof, from 2005 to 2015, hearing both civil and criminal matters. In 2015 he became a judge of the International Criminal Court, sitting in the court's trial division; his original nine-year term was due to end in March 2024, but he remained in office until July 2025 to complete ongoing war crimes trials.
