Bernard Chunga was a Kenyan lawyer and judge who served as Chief Justice of Kenya from 1999 to 2003 after being appointed by President Daniel arap Moi. Born on 1 January 1949, he had earlier served as Deputy Public Prosecutor and led the official inquiry into the death of politician Robert Ouko. He resigned as Chief Justice rather than face a tribunal that President Mwai Kibaki established to investigate allegations of misconduct.
