Basil Markesinis (born 1944) is a Greek-British barrister and legal scholar specializing in comparative law, who held professorships including the Jamail Regents Professorship at the University of Texas at Austin and a chair in common and civil law at University College London. Author or co-author of some thirty books and over 120 articles in English, French, German and Greek, his scholarship bridged Anglo-American and continental European legal traditions and earned him honors from France, Germany, Italy and Greece.
