Asad ibn al-Furat (circa 759 to circa 828) was a Muslim jurist, theologian and military leader active in Ifriqiya who played an important role in the Arab conquest of Sicily. A Sunni scholar, he studied under teachers from the Maliki school in Medina and often drew on Maliki teaching in his own work, though his own legal orientation is sometimes seen as Hanafi. He compiled the legal work known as al-Asadiyya, which had great influence in Ifriqiya.
