Aron Naumovich Trainin (1883 to 1957) was a Soviet legal scholar of criminal and international law who advised the Soviet delegation preparing the Nuremberg trials. He made the first successful proposal to treat the launching of aggressive war as a criminal offense, and his concept of a crime against peace was written into the Charter of the International Military Tribunal. Trainin also argued for individual criminal responsibility for such international crimes, an idea the Nuremberg judgment went on to adopt.
