Anne-Marie Slaughter, born in 1958, is an American lawyer and political scientist who served as dean of the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University from 2002 to 2009. From 2009 to 2011 she directed policy planning at the United States State Department under Secretary Hillary Clinton, becoming the first woman to hold that role. She earlier taught at the University of Chicago Law School and Harvard Law School, and from 2013 to 2026 served as president and chief executive of the New America Foundation. She holds degrees from Princeton, Oxford and Harvard Law School.
