Ana Maria Guerra Martins is a Portuguese jurist born on 22 July 1963 in Lisbon. She was a lecturer and then full professor of international human rights and constitutional law at the University of Lisbon from 1999 to 2020, served as a judge on Portugal's Constitutional Court from 2006 to 2016, and was Portugal's general inspector of justice from 2006 to 2007. She was elected in October 2019 to represent Portugal at the European Court of Human Rights, succeeding Paulo Pinto de Albuquerque, took office on 1 April 2020, and became the first woman to hold that seat.
