Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Fyodorovich Volchkov was a Soviet jurist who lived from 1902 to 1978 and served as the alternate Soviet judge at the International Military Tribunal in Nuremberg. Before his legal career he worked in the Soviet film industry, then moved into law, holding posts at the People Commissariat for Foreign Affairs, in the public prosecutor office and at the Soviet embassy in Great Britain, and lectured on international law before the war before serving as a military justice officer during it. His fluency in English and grounding in international law led to his appointment as deputy representative of the Soviet Union at Nuremberg.
