Sir Albert Rocky Palmer is a Solomon Islands jurist who has served as Chief Justice of Solomon Islands since 2004, when he succeeded Sir John Muria on Muria's move to an overseas judicial posting. A native of Solomon Islands, he earned a BA in economics from the University of Otago in 1982 and a law degree there in 1985 under a New Zealand Bilateral Aid Programme independence-assistance scholarship, then undertook attachment work in Wellington in 1986 with the Police Legal Section, the Crown Law Office and Chapman Tripp Sheffield Young. He served as a senior magistrate from 1987 and principal magistrate from 1989 before his appointment to the High Court as a judge in 1992. As Chief Justice he has introduced e-filing to the courts and oversaw the 2019 national election period, which generated 28 election petitions, the highest number ever recorded within a twelve-month period from date of filing.
