Al-Muzani, in full Abu Ibrahim Ismail ibn Yahya al-Muzani al-Misri, was an Islamic jurist and theologian and one of the leading members of the Shafii school. A native of Cairo, he was a close disciple and companion of Imam al-Shafii, who called him the standard bearer of his school, and he died in 878 at the age of 89.
