Al-Khatib al-Baghdadi (1002 to 1071) was an Iraqi Sunni Muslim scholar known as one of the foremost hadith scholars and historians of his time, widely considered an important authority in hadith, fiqh, and history. His own name records his affiliation with the Shafi'i school of Islamic law.
