Akinola Aguda, who lived from 1923 to 5 September 2001, was a Yoruba Nigerian jurist who practiced law and served as a High Court judge in Nigeria's Western Region and as Chief Judge of Ondo State before becoming the inaugural Chief Justice of Botswana, the first indigenous African to hold that position. He also directed the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies at the University of Lagos and was known for his human rights advocacy. Born in Akure in Britain's Southern Nigeria region, he studied law at the University of London and was called to the bar in 1952.
