Ada Pellegrini Grinover was a Brazilian jurist who lived from 1933 to 2017, born in Naples, Italy, and brought to Brazil by her family in 1951. She earned her law degree from the University of Sao Paulo in 1958 and her doctorate in 1970, becoming a full professor there by 1980 and working as an attorney for the state of Sao Paulo. Grinover was a leading scholar of Brazilian civil procedure and took part in the drafting of Brazil's 2002 Civil Code alongside Miguel Reale and Maria Helena Diniz.
