Abu-l-Hasan Ali ibn Mohammed al-Tamgruti was a Moroccan fqih, author and ambassador who served as one of the most important officials of the Saadian court during the reign of Ahmad al-Mansur. He led the embassy to the Ottoman sultan Murad III together with the secretary of state Abd al-Aziz al-Fishtali, and is best known for the rihla he wrote recounting his 1590-91 journey to Istanbul. He was buried in the sanctuary of Qadi Ayyad in Marrakesh.
