Abu Bakr al-Turtushi, in full Abu Bakr Muhammad ibn al-Walid al-Turtushi, was one of the most prominent Andalusian political philosophers of the twelfth century and a jurist of the Maliki school. His book Kitab Siraj al-Muluk, The Lamp of Kings, was one of the most important works of political theory produced in the medieval Islamic world; he was active in al-Andalus and later in Fatimid Egypt, particularly Alexandria.
