Abu Amr Abd al-Rahman ibn Amr al-Awza'i lived from 707 to 774 and was a Sunni Muslim scholar, jurist and theologian who served as the chief representative and eponym of the Awza'i school of Islamic jurisprudence, one of the historical schools of Sunni legal thought that did not survive as an organized tradition into the modern era.
