The New Jersey Superior Court, Appellate Division is the intermediate appellate court within New Jersey's judicial system, with appellate review authority over final judgments of the trial divisions and the Tax Court, as well as final decisions and actions of state administrative agencies. It has 35 judges organized into eight divisions of four or five judges each, deciding cases in three-judge panels, and handles roughly 7,000 appeals and 7,500 motions a year, with judges' chambers spread across nine New Jersey cities and dedicated courtrooms for oral argument in Trenton, Morristown and Hackensack; the Supreme Court of New Jersey sits above it as the state's court of last resort.
