Louisiana Circuit Courts of Appeal

The Louisiana Circuit Courts of Appeal are the intermediate appellate courts for the state of Louisiana, positioned between the trial courts and the Louisiana Supreme Court. They hear appeals from the district courts and exercise appellate jurisdiction over civil matters, family and juvenile court cases, and most criminal jury trials, and in civil appeals they may review both factual and legal questions, while criminal appeals are limited to questions of law. The system comprises five circuits, each divided into three districts, together covering the parishes of the state.
