Tripura High Court

Intermediate Appellate Courts

The Tripura High Court is the High Court of the Indian state of Tripura, and its seat is at Agartala, the state capital. It was established on 23 March 2013, after suitable amendments to the Constitution of India and to the North-Eastern Areas (Reorganisation) Act, 1971. Its first Chief Justice was Deepak Gupta, who served from 23 March 2013 to 16 May 2016. Before that date Tripura and the other six states of North-East India came under the Guwahati High Court, which set up a permanent bench in Agartala in 1992 with territorial jurisdiction over Tripura. The article names M.S. Ramachandra Rao as chief justice, sworn in on 22 April 2025. The earlier Agartala bench, set up in 1992, is the predecessor arrangement for the state.
