The Supreme Court of Ukraine is the highest judicial body in the country's system of courts of general jurisdiction, with its structure and functions set out in the Constitution of Ukraine and the Law of Ukraine on the Judiciary and the Status of Judges. Its lineage traces to the General Court of the Ukrainian People's Republic, established 15 December 1917 as the first national court since the abolition of the Hetmanate, and it is seated in the Klov Palace in Kyiv, which it has occupied since 2003.
