The National Court of Justice of Ecuador is the highest ordinary court of the country and one of the organs through which justice is administered under the Constitution. It is comprised of twenty-one judges, who are organized in specialized courts and designated for a nine year term of office. The judges of the National Court of Justice elect from among their own members the Chief Justice, who represents the Judicial Branch and holds office for three years. Unlike other public servants of the judiciary, the judges of the National Court of Justice are not required to take the general and special training course and pass the tests that admission to the judicial service otherwise demands.
