Court of Cassation of Burkina Faso

National Supreme Courts (Last Resort)

The Court of Cassation of Burkina Faso is, under article 127 of the Constitution, the superior jurisdiction of the judicial order, beside the Council of State for the administrative order, the Court of Accounts for the control of public finances and the Tribunal of Conflicts. An organic law fixes its composition, organization, attributions and functioning, and the member page of the association of francophone supreme courts lists Law No 018-2016/AN of 26 May 2016 on that subject. Under article 132 its first President is the president of the Superior Council of the Magistrature. Pascal Bamouni was named President on 12 November 2024, and the court has its postal address at Ouagadougou. The World Factbook archive says that appointments of the judges of the supreme court are mostly controlled by the president of Burkina Faso and that its judges have no term limits.
