The Constitutional Court of Mali judges the constitutionality of laws and guarantees the fundamental rights of the human person and public freedoms. It supervises the regularity of the election of the President of the Republic, ruling on complaints and proclaiming the final results, and organic laws may only be promulgated after it has declared them in conformity with the Constitution. Under the 2023 Constitution nine counsellors sit on it, each serving a single non-renewable term of seven years, designated by the President, the National Assembly, the Senate, the Superior Council of the Magistracy, the law faculties and the bar. The court elects its own president, and Manassa Danioko was elected to that post in February 2015.
