Constitutional Courts

The Constitutional Court of Kyrgyzstan is the court of constitutional review and, with the Supreme Court, one of the two highest courts named in the 2021 Constitution. It determines which laws and other acts are unconstitutional and cancels their effect. Its judges must be citizens aged between 40 and 70 with a legal education and at least fifteen years of legal experience, and the Jogorku Kenesh elects them; the President appoints its president for five years with the consent of parliament. The court occupies a building from 1941 on Erkindik Avenue in Bishkek, transferred to it in 1994.
