The Constitutional Council of Cote d'Ivoire regulates the working of public authorities and judges whether laws conform to the body of constitutional norms. It also supervises presidential and parliamentary elections: it rules on the eligibility of candidates and on disputes, proclaims the definitive results of the presidential election and receives the oath of the elected president. It is made up of a President, the former Presidents of the Republic unless they decline, and six counsellors named by the President of the Republic, the National Assembly and the Senate. The President serves a single six-year term, and the Council sits in Abidjan.

En matière d’élection du Président de la République, le Conseil constitutionnel statue sur l’éligibilité des candidats, les contestations relatives à l’élection du Président de la République et en proclame les résultats définitifs.
Section I, composition
Le Conseil constitutionnel se compose d’un Président, des anciens Présidents de la République, sauf renonciation expresse de leur part et de six Conseillers dont trois désignés par le Président de la République, deux par le Président de l’Assemblée Nationale et un par le Président du Sénat (Article 128 de la Constitution).
