The Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura, known in Latin as the Supremum Tribunal Signaturae Apostolicae, is the highest judicial authority in the Catholic Church, apart from the Pope, who as supreme ecclesiastical judge is the final point of appeal on any ecclesiastical matter. It also oversees the administration of justice in the Church, and some of its members exercise judicial functions for the Vatican City State. Since 8 November 2014 its prefect has been Cardinal Dominique Mamberti, and its secretary since 26 January 2022 has been Andrea Ripa. The tribunal is housed in the Palazzo della Cancelleria in Rome, which is also the seat of the Sacred Roman Rota and the Apostolic Penitentiary, the Church's other two major tribunals.
