The Zanardelli Code was the Italian penal code of 1889, in effect in the Kingdom of Italy from 1890 to 1930 and still in effect in Vatican City. It takes its name from Giuseppe Zanardelli, the Minister of Justice who pushed for its approval. The code unified penal legislation across Italy, abolished capital punishment, and recognized the right to strike.
