United States Code

The United States Code, formally the Code of Laws of the United States of America, is the official codification of the federal government's general and permanent statutes, organized into 53 numbered titles. It is compiled and published by the Office of the Law Revision Counsel of the U.S. House of Representatives, with a new complete edition issued every six years and annual supplements between editions. Titles enacted into positive law carry full legal authority, while other titles serve only as prima facie evidence of the law, with the United States Statutes at Large remaining the ultimate authority, though courts routinely cite the Code without distinguishing between the two.
