Swiss Criminal Code

The Swiss Criminal Code is the federal law that governs criminal law in Switzerland, created on 21 December 1937, approved by public referendum on 3 July 1938, and in force since 1 January 1942. Its enactment moved substantive criminal law from the cantons to the federal level for the first time, though the cantons retained authority over criminal procedure and the punishment of tax offenses.
