The Swiss Code of Obligations is the federal law of Switzerland governing contracts and joint stock companies, forming the fifth part of the Swiss Civil Code. Adopted in 1911, it entered into force on 1 January 1912 and has been substantially revised since, with its current version dating to 1 April 2020. Organized into five divisions, it covers contractual obligations, company law, the commercial register and negotiable securities, and its own articles carry separate numbering within the civil code.
