The South Korean Civil Code, formally the Civil Code of the Republic of Korea, was passed in 1958 as Law No. 471 and is regarded in South Korea as one of the three fundamental laws of the state, alongside the penal code and the constitution. It is organized into five parts covering general provisions, real rights, claims, family relations, and inheritance.
