The Criminal Code of the Republic of Belarus sets out the fundamental laws defining what is considered illegal within Belarus. It was passed in 1999, carrying over several provisions from the criminal law passed in 1960 under the Byelorussian SSR, and its 1999 edition includes offenses that can carry capital punishment upon sentencing.
