The Constitution of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea is the basic law of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, a republic on the Crimean peninsula as part of Ukraine, and it establishes the republic's status and authority within Ukraine, including the right to draft a budget and manage its own property. Its lineage runs from the 1992 constitution, revised on 25 September 1992 after Crimea accepted the status of an autonomous republic within Ukraine, through a new constitution adopted by the Crimean parliament in October 1995, amended after Ukrainian objections, confirmed by the Verkhovna Rada on 23 December 1998 and in force from 12 January 1999. After the 2014 Crimean status referendum the Crimean authorities repealed it during the annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation, but the Ukrainian government does not recognize the annexation and still treats the constitution as active.
