Mongolia's constitution was ratified on 13 January 1992 and took effect on 12 February 1992, dissolving the constitutional framework of the socialist Mongolian People's Republic following the 1990 Democratic Revolution. Its preamble and six chapters of 70 articles establish a unitary parliamentary constitutional republic with a unicameral State Great Khural replacing the former two-chamber legislature, and guarantee freedoms of religion, expression, travel and private property; it has been amended in 1999, 2000, 2019, 2022 and 2023.
