The Civil Code of the Republic of Lithuania is the governing code of private law in Lithuania, entering into effect on July 1, 2001, as part of a major legal reform. It governs property relationships and personal non property relationships connected to them, as well as family relationships, and it also applies to the property relations of state institutions exercising public power, including taxation and budgetary matters. It governs labor relationships only to the extent they are not already regulated by the Labour Code of the Republic of Lithuania or other labor laws.
